UN official kidnapped in Quetta

Security officials inspect the vehicle of United Nations, at the site where a UN official was kidnapped, Quetta, the capital of restive Balochistan province of Pakistan, 02 February 2009. The kidnappers intercepted the marked Land Cruiser carrying the local head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, John Solecki, soon after he left his residence for work in the provincial capital, Quetta on 02 February. Balochistan is facing an insurgency by ethnic Baloch tribesmen, who are seeking more provincial autonomy and a greater share of profits from the area's natural resources
